Tennis Leagues

Each season we offer a variety of leagues to our membership. During the leagues all participants play set matches against one another. Typically there are at least 8 teams or players in a given singles, doubles, or round robin doubles league. A weekly match is set up, and members play the match and report their scores. A champion of each league is determined at the end of each session.

For more information on tennis leagues please contact the Tennis Office at 901-765-4458.

There are typically five sessions of tennis leagues here at The Racquet Club. Our fall, winter, and spring leagues take place on our indoor courts. Our summer leagues take place outdoors on the rubico courts.

Indoor Sessions

Fall Session – October & November

Winter Session – December & January (there is no play during the Holidays)

Spring Session – March and April

Outdoor Sessions

Summer I Session – May and June

Summer II Session – July and August

Tennis League FAQs

Question: What do I do if it rains? (Only applies to outdoor leagues)

Answer: If it rains, it is up to you and your opponent(s) to decide what to do. You may either reschedule the match outdoors for another day or you may choose to play indoors and pay for the court.

How long will my League run?

Tennis Leagues usually run seven to nine weeks, depending on the number of teams in the league.

When do I start playing?

You will play the first week unless you are notified otherwise. Please mark this on your calendar.

What happens if I can’t be there on a certain day?

If you are playing in a Singles League, you may reschedule the match. However, if you reschedule more than two matches, you are not eligible to win the League. You must find a SUB for all Doubles matches you will not be able to attend. There is NO RESCHEDULING of Doubles matches due to the inconvenience for all parties involved.

I am in a league now that runs until a date after the new League starts. Can I still play in the new league?

If you are currently playing in a league that finishes after the scheduled starting date, your new League will start later. Some individual League players have late Make-Up Matches. The new Leagues will not start later because of these, but you as an individual will not be scheduled on a day that you already have a make-up scheduled.

Why is my time and/or day different than usual? (Applies to outdoor leagues)

Because the summer is much hotter than the rest of the year, we try to fit all the leagues into the 9:00 - 10:30 am or 6:00 - 7:30 pm bracket. Sometimes your time and/or regular day has to be changed because of this.

When do I get my schedule?

Because we work with your schedules as much as possible to schedule you off on days you are unable to play, you will receive your schedule one week before your first day of play. You will receive a phone call two days prior to your League's first night of play to remind you that your League will begin soon. Unless you have indicated otherwise on your sing up sheet, market you calendar that you will play the first night.

I am not going to be there the first week ,won't have a schdule or sub list yet. What do I need to do?

It is your responsibility to either indicate this on your schedule or call the tennis office to let me know. Please do not call the day of your first match and say you will not be there or that you did not know that you were supposed to play.

Do I have to be a Racquet Club member to play in the Racquet Club Tennis Leagues?

You must be a member of The Racquet Club of Memphis to participate in the Racquet Club's Tennis Leagues.
