Tennis For Adults

Tennis Leagues

Each season we offer a variety of leagues to our membership. During the leagues all participants play set matches against one another. Typically there are at least 8 teams or players in a given singles, doubles, or round robin doubles league. A weekly match is set up, and members play the match and report their scores. A champion of each league is determined at the end of each session. CLICK HERE for the CURRENT League Sign-Up Sheet. For more information on TENNIS LEAGUES please contact the Tennis Office, at 901.765.4427 or tennis.office@racquetclubofmemphis.com.

Tennis League FAQs

What do I do if it rains? (Only applies to outdoor leagues)
If it rains it is up to you and your opponent(s) to decide what to do. You may either reschedule the match outdoors for another day or you may choose to play indoors and pay for the court.

How long will my League run?
Tennis Leagues usually run seven to nine weeks, depending on the number of teams in the league.

When do I start playing?
You will play the first week unless you are notified otherwise.  Please mark this on your calendar.

What happens if I can’t be there on a certain day?
If you are playing in a Singles League, you may reschedule the match. However, if you reschedule more than two matches, you are not eligible to win the League. You must find a SUB for all Doubles matches you will not be able to attend. There is NO RESCHEDULING of Doubles matches due to the inconvenience for all parties involved.

I am in a league now that runs until a date after the new League starts. Can I still play in the new league?
If you are currently playing in a league that finishes after the scheduled starting date, your new League will start later. These are indicated on the front of this sheet with stars (**) by the League. Some individual League players have late Make-Up Matches. The new Leagues will not start later because of these, but you as an individual will not be scheduled on a day that you already have a make-up scheduled.

Why is my time and/or day different than usual? (Applies to outdoor leagues)
Because the summer is a lot hotter than the rest of the year, we try to fit all the leagues into the
9:00 - 10:30 am or 6:00 - 7:30 pm bracket. Sometimes your time and/or regular day has to be
changed because of this.

When do I get my schedule?
Because we work with your schedules as much as possible to schedule you off on days you
are unable to play, you will receive your schedule one week before your first day of play.
You will receive a phone call two days prior to your League's first night of play to remind you that your
League will begin that night. UNLESS YOU HAVE INDICATED OTHERWISE ON YOUR SIGN
UP SHEET, MARK ON YOUR CALENDAR THAT YOU WILL PLAY THE FIRST NIGHT.

I am not going to be there the first week won't have a schdule or sub list yet. What do I need to do?
It is your responsibility  to either indicate this on your schedule or call me to let me know.
Please do not call the day of your first match and say you will not be there or that  you did not
know that you were supposed to play.

Do I have to be a Racquet Club member to play in the Racquet Club Tennis Leagues?
**You must be a member of The Racquet Club of Memphis to participate in the Racquet Club's Tennis Leagues**

Contract Court Time

A weekly set match is a common thing for many people involved in the sport of tennis. As a courtesy to our members we contract a set of time on a given indoor air-conditioned/heated court.  During the year there are two blocks of time available for contracting a tennis court. The FALL SESSIONis a 13-week session that runs from mid-September to the end of December. The SPRING SESSION is a 13-week session that runs from the beginning of January to the end of April.  Times are available any day of the week. The only cost involved is the cost of the court time. As a bonus, Contracts are charged $2.00/hour less than regular walk-up courts! Having a Contract Court makes it much easier for tennis players to keep up their regular games without having to worry about calling each week to book their favorite courts. We take care of the courts for you. To check Contract Availability please contact Keri Davis.
