The Club employs USPTA-certified professionals who are eager to help improve members’ games through lessons or group clinics. The staff also assists members in becoming active in recreational play, leagues and tournaments and will set up matches for members against others of equal skill level.

Originally from Perth, Australia, Peter played #1 singles for University of Memphis from 1983 to 1987, and in 1985 was ranked the #10 singles player in the South. During his time in Memphis after college, Peter has served as the Tennessee Junior Whitman Cup Coach (1989-1991), the Southern Tennis Association Zonal Coach (1991-1995), the 1995 USTA National 12s Camp Coach and in 1992 was awarded the Tennessee Coach of the Year.
Peter also serves as the Chairman of the Tennessee Junior Competition Committee (1990-present), the Vice Chairman of the Southern Junior Competition Committee (1996-2008), Chairmain for the Southern Junior Competitive Committee (2008-present), the Area Training Center Coach and Administrator (1990-present), USTA Tennessee Professional of the Year in 2004, the Tournament Director of the USTA Girls’ 18 National Clays (2000-presnt) and in 2000 was Level I and II Sport Science certified.
Since 2009, Peter has been a member of the USTA National Junior Competitive Committee

A Memphis native, Michael was an active member of The Racquet Club’s Junior Academy program (1985-1998). In 1997, while living abroad in Australia, Michael won the Australian High School Championships. He went on to play collegiately at Middle Tennessee State University (1998-2000) and finished his career at the University of Memphis (2000-2002).
While playing in college, Michael was named All-Conference and each year at the University of Memphis, he was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In 2001, he was Conference USA’s Sportsmanship Recipient. During his college career, Michael also spent time instructing and coaching. He was a volunteer tennis instructor for the Special Olympics team (2000-2002) and was the assistant tennis instructor and Junior Academy coach at The Racquet Club from 2000-2002. He joined The Racquet Club’s tennis professional staff in 2002 after graduating from the University of Memphis with a degree in Finance. In 2005, earned his MBA from the University of Memphis.
Jorge Woog – Tennis Professional

Originally from Mexico City, Mexico, Jorge joined The Racquet Club tennis staff in 2003. He played tennis at Harding University from 1984 to 1988 and graduated with a degree in Marketing in 1989. He became the head tennis professional at the Wimbleton Sportslex in Memphis in 1994 and was tennis director of Wimbleton from 1999-2001.
Jorge has 16 years of teaching experience and is USPTA certified.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Dan joined the Club’s professional tennis staff in December 2007. While at Alter High School in Dayton, Dan played #1 singles and was named the Greater Catholic League MVP, D-2 Player of the Year and finished fourth in the Ohio State Championships (1999-2003). He went on to play at Cleveland State University, where he was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team (2003-2007).
After graduating with honors with a Sports Management degree, he was the assistant pro at Moraine Country Club (2002-2006), and in 2007 became the assistant pro and Head of Junior Development at the Leftwich Tennis Center. Dan is also USPTA certified and is presently an assistant for the Memphis-area Competitive Training Center.
Taylor H. Taylor – Tennis Professional

A Memphis native, Taylor graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1990. While at St. Mary’s, she played five years on the varsity team, winning three state titles. She went on to play tennis at the University of Virginia (1990-1994) where she was team MVP (1992), team captain (1993-1994), an All-ACC player (1993-1994) and an All-American Tournament participant (1994).
She was the tennis professional at the University Club of Memphis from 1994-2004 and was the Director of Junior Tennis at the University Club from 1995-2002. She was head varsity tennis coach at St. Mary’s from 2003 - 2009. She joined the Club’s tennis staff in January 2009.
Taylor is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee’s School of Social Work Masters Program.
Charlie Ramsay - Tennis Professional

A native of Murfreesboro, TN; Charlie Ramsay grew up playing at the Southern and National level. He attended McCallie School in Chattanooga where he was a 4-time Best of Prep and 2-time State Champion.
Charlie played tennis at the University of Memphis, for four years under Coach Paul Goebel, while earning his degree in Sports Management. While in college, Charlie won the 2007 Southern Intercollegiate Championships with doubles partner Amrit Narasimhan. As a doubles team they were ranked in the top 15 for the region that year and played #1 doubles the entire year. During his senior year, Charlie played #1 singles and was team captain. For the past three years, Charlie has been a hitting partner for the pros during the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships. In the 2010 Championships, Charlie played in an exhibition match with Jordan Smith against David Martin & Scott Lipsky.
Lauren Thompson - Tennis Department Events Manager
A native of Germantown, TN, graduated from Germantown High School. She played volleyball at the University of Memphis where she majored in sport & leisure management with a minor in marketing management. Lauren helps coordinate tennis events at the club, organizes league play and contract court time throughout the year.
