Our Junior Development Program Philosophy:
1st goal is
that they become as good as possible by the time they reach 18
years of age.
On court
philosophy:
1.
100% in all workouts and matches
2.
Perfect attitude—sportsmanship
3.
Respect of coaches, parents, and opponent
Each player has
a total shot repertoire, yet an individual style of play.
They should be in excellent physical condition: work on strength,
quickness, agility, flexibility. Unlimited use of first-class
fitness center is a great asset.
Drills and work
sessions are consistent throughout the entire program, but leveled
to the player’s ability and efficiency of the group.
Match and tournament tough to be ready for major USTA events.
Self-disciplined. Practice habits, line calling, and court
demeanor. Attitude is one thing that each player can control, so
we encourage good behavior, discipline, and conduct.
Tennis is a learned skill. They should keep a file of all their
activities, lessons, clinics, schedules, and tournaments.
We emphasize thorough body care, i.e. adequate rest and sleep,
good nutrition, and no tolerance of alcohol or other substances.
We have a great facility, so use it to its potential.
Group participation:
1.
Makes for ready practice partners
2.
Has built in peer acceptance to work hard and put in maximum
effort to improve to the next level
3.
Less expensive to work on drill work and as effective as
one-on-one with a Pro
4.
Establishes friends
Our
staff is extremely well-educated
and experienced, as well as very
professional in their conduct.

Junior Development
(brochure download)
Junior Development, which has been in
existence for 28 years, is the program begun at The Racquet Club
to develop the games of juniors of all ages and ability levels.
Each year nearly 200 juniors participate in the program, from five
year olds who are just learning to play, to seniors in high school
who are preparing for the Nationals. Juniors are separated
according to their ability levels and ages. Maintaining a
one-to-four ratio, the Tennis Professionals and the Junior
Development staff strive to give the juniors the best instruction,
drills and practice available. |
