What is QuickStart?
“QuickStart Tennis is a new format to help kids ten and under learn & play the game. To make it easier for them, we changed a few things. The court sizes. The racquet sizes. The balls. The scoring system. Even the net height. Now any child between ages five and ten can start playing tennis almost immediately-even if he or she has never picked up a racquet before.” - United States Tennis Association
History of QuickStart
In the Summer of 2006, 27 tennis sites in America were chosen for the Project 36/60 Pilot Program (now, QuickStart). In December 2006, the Project 36/60 summit was held in Chicago, IL. This is where the initial decisions were made about the different variables of the program. After the Chicago meeting, the rules were intact and Project 36/60 spread throughout the country. The first 8 and under 36' court Junior Team Tennis league in America was formed in January 2007. In March 2007, the first sanctioned 36/60' tournament were held at the Petersburg Racquet Club in Augusta, GA. With the success of the pilot program growing throughout America, the USTA decided to unveil the new innovative program at the Coaches conference at the 2007 US Open. It’s here that the USTA re-named the program, Quick Start Tennis. It is now a recognized successful method of teaching kids the wonderful game of tennis.
QuickStart at the Racquet Club of Memphis
By placing your children in the QuickStart Tennis Program at The Racquet Club, you are giving them gifts they can cherish for the rest of their lives. Through QuickStart they develop a skill that teaches them to cooperate with other children as well as think for themselves. They learn athletic skills, coordinationdevelopment, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all while having a blast at the same time! The staff has been trained to provide the most enjoyable learning atmosphere possible.
For over 30 years, the Racquet Club has been an innovative leader in the city of Memphis in developing outstanding tennis players and persons of the community. We are promoting the QuickStart Program for all kids to learn to play, and are confident that your child will love the game as much as we do! We recognize how important early stages of child development are and that is why we have hired Jay Horne to lead the QuickStart program and develop your child. Jay has learned from the best in QuickStart, and wants to bring his knowledge to you and your children. Mission Statement
Create an excitement in the junior for the sport of tennis. The junior will learn the basic fundamentals of tennis while maintaining an excitement for the sport of tennis. The junior will use state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to inspire and teach the junior. Coaches will be very encouraging and adaptive to help beginners improve their games.

*Motivate the junior to attain higher success and work with tennis

Memphis QuickStart Championship Series Event - Saturday, August 28
The 5th QuickStart Tournament in the Memphis QuickStart Championship Series was held August 28th. Congratulations to Clay Busby, Champion of the Co-ed 10s' division and Griffin Smith, Champion of the Co-ed 8s' division!! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered at this event.
Memphis QuickStart Championship Series Event - Saturday, July 10
On Saturday, June 19 the 3rd QuickStart Tournament in the Memphis QuickStart Championship Series was held at the Racquet Club of Memphis! It was a huge success with 16 kids participating! The kids were so excited and ready to play! In the 8 & Under Co-ed Division, we had Sophia Mead place 1st and Henry Gates place 3rd! Please congratulate these kids if you see them!

The next QuickStart Tournament will be July 10, 2010! Please register online on the USTA website to play! The tournament ID is 704244910! We hope to see you there!
The 3rd tournament in the QuickStart Championship Series is taking place next Saturday, June 19! We would love for your child to play! The tournament will start at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 19. Sign up ends Thursday, June 17 at midnight.
The tournament is a USTA sanctioned tournament, that will be utilizing the QuickStart format your kids have been practicing. Being a USTA sanctioned event, the kids will have to have a USTA number in order to sign up and play. It's very easy to become a member, plus there are many perks associated with it.
The divisions are as follows: Boys 8 and under, Girls 8 and under, Boys 10 and under, Girls 10 and under. If your child is 6 or under, it is not recommended they sign up. They are not quite ready to battle just yet, but hopefully in the next couple years, they'll have their opportunity.
The 8 and under will be playing on a 36 foot court and the 10 and under will be playing on a 60 foot court.
Recap of the Quickstart Championship on May 15
On Saturday, May 15 the 2nd QuickStart Tournament in the Memphis QuickStart Championship Series was held at the Racquet Club of Memphis! It was a huge success with 18 kids participating! The kids were so excited and ready to play! The QuickStart program here at the club has been successful in preparing our kids to play tournaments. This was evident in the results:
In the Boys 10s division, Seth Richey placed 1st and John Morgan Gates placed 2nd. In the Girls 10s division, Madeline Danielson placed 1st and Georgia Gruen placed 3rd. Russell Williamson placed 1st in the Boys 8s division; and in the Girls 8s division, Ana Taylor placed 2nd! If you know or see any of these kids please congratulate them!

Recap of the Quickstart Championship on April 24
On a rainy April 24, there were smiles, laughter, and competition in the stadium at The Racquet Club! We hosted the first QuickStart tournament at The Racquet Club and it was a huge success! We had 25 kids participate from around the city and every single one of them were nervous before play started, but excited and pumped up after play finished! The QuickStart program here at the club has been successful in preparing our kids to play in this and future tournaments. This was evident in the results:

Requirements
A one-time $15 Ball Fee is assessed when joining the program.
All non-members participating in the program are required to submit an
application with either a valid credit card # or reciprocal club #. This is the
account that is charged Up-Front Monthly for QuickStart.
Juniors must commit to a month of QuickStart at a time. You are more than
welcome to commit to one day a week, two days a week, or three days a week for
the month. Participants must sign-up or withdraw by the 20th of the previous
month or they will be billed as if they are attending.

Summer Camps & Pricing
QuickStart Summer Tennis for Kids is for Beginner to Intermediate players ages 4 - 11. The clinics are designed to give Juniors the opportunity to learn the game In a fun way through the use of the QuickStart program. Your children will have such a great time with our coaches that they are guaranteed to want to continue to play the game! Clinics are held weekly on the air conditioned indoor courts at The Racquet Club. Camps fill quickly, so call Michael Chamberlain today at 765-4414 to sign up!
